Unanet provides the ability to pay exempt employees for hours worked additional to the hours normally worked when dilution is turned on in the Unanet system. The information presented on this help page offers a possible approach to accommodate this need.

Some organizations apply a concept of additional hours or an Extended Work Week (EWW) for exempt employees as a means of compensation when they work more than the number of hours upon which their salary is based. These efforts are of a defined duration and are generally in support of special projects or periods of time when contract work demands exceed current staffing, yet do not warrant increasing staff due to the uncertainty of the continuation of the work.
To accommodate this, Unanet provides an Additional Pay (Undiluted) option when setting up a pay code. When entering additional hours, exempt employees enter an additional row for the additional hours and the pay code that has been set up with the Additional Pay (Undiluted) option. For example:
Person works normally 40 hours at $100.00 per hour.
Approver requests the person to work 50 hours.
Person adds one or more rows to the timesheet to specify the additional pay of 10 hours in the week.
Approver approves the time.
Person receives $5000 instead of the normal $4000 for the week.
Following are two example timesheets with the resulting Project Time Details report. The first example shows the 50 hours reported on one row of the timesheet with one pay code. The exempt person is paid their normal weekly salary.
The second example shows the 50 hours reported on two rows with the additional hours reported to the Additional Pay (Undiluted) pay code. The exempt person is paid additionally for the 10 hours over time at the person’s hourly rate.
