Additional Enhancements
Contact Management Enhancements
A number of contact related enhancements have been included in this release.
A new Quick Search filter has been added to the Organization Dashboard to allow for quick access to contact information.
Two new roles Contact Manager and Contact Viewer have been added to facilitate the management of the Organizational Contact information. These new roles can be restricted via Org Access configuration (with a new Access Type of Contact).
The edit and view screens for contact information now have Created By and Last Updated By details displayed.
Organization Search, Organization Address export, and Organization Contact export each have four new fields to filter by (street address, city, state/providence and country) to allow for selection by Organization Addresses.
Contact Categories have also been added, which allows for each contact to be tagged with one or many categories. The Organization Contact export has been modified to have an additional search control to filter by category.
Email addresses appearing in the Contact List and Contact View screens are now clickable links that will launch your local email client.
Contact List screen has been modified to allow for the downloading of the displayed results to a CSV formatted file.
The Organization Contact Import has been modified to now support update and delete capabilities.
Finally, the following new imports and exports have been added to facilitate the management of Contact information: Organization Contact Address Import, Organization Contact Email Import, Organization Contact Phone Import, Organization Contact Address Export, Organization Contact Email Export, and Organization Contact Phone Export.
Planning and Assignment Grid Enhancements
The project level People Assigner and People Planner as well as the cross project People Assigner and People Planner have a new control that will allow for the display of existing assignments/plans in addition to any individuals included in the People filter. These grid assigners and planners (as well as the Expense Planners and Budgeters) also have a new control that allows for the move of existing entries forward or backward by some number of periods.
Calculate Indirect Rates from GL Budgets
The Cost Pool Calculation feature has been enhanced to allow you to perform the calculations based on actuals and/or GL Budget entries. The Cost Pool Calculation, Cost Pool Calculation List and Statement of Indirect Rates Report each have new controls that allow you to specify whether to include Actuals, Budgets or Both.
Leave Without Pay
A number of changes have been implemented to better facilitate the handling of Leave Without Pay. The Pay Code screen has been modified to facilitate support for Leave Without Pay via a new Exempt Usage option of Leave Without Pay. The PAY_CODE_EXEMPT_USAGE field in the Time Export will now display an "L" for pay codes configured with this option. Hours charged to these pay codes will have a zero Cost Rate Factor and will be excluded from Dilution calculations. To better facilitate the calculation of dilution for Semi-Monthly and Monthly time periods, a new property Set Dilution Business Hours in Period from Dilution Hours (unatime.cost.dilution.business_hours_from_dilution_hours) has been made available. The dilution calculations have been modified to include a Business Hours Factor to more accurately weight excluded hours in semi-monthly and monthly time periods.
Migration Note:
During the migration to version 10.2, the database field dilution_bus_hours will be set equal to dilution_hours for all existing person_time rows. A new property, Set Dilution Business Hours in Period from Dilution Hours (unatime.cost.dilution.business_hours_from_dilution_hours),which has a default value of 'false' will be configured as 'true' to preserve existing dilution behavior.
Additional Hourly Pay
The Pay Code screen has been modified to facilitate support for Additional Hourly Pay by pay code. Using this feature, you can specify an additional hourly amount to be applied on top of the existing hourly cost rate for time charged to these pay codes. Calculation of effective cost rate is: (cost rate * dilution factor if applicable) + additional pay rate. The Time Import has a new optional column (Additional_Pay_Rate) that can be used to import the additional amount by timesheet entry. The Time Export has a new field in the default import export template (Additional_Pay_Rate) as well. The Administrative Timesheet Adjustment feature and the Timesheet Preview - Adjustments History section have each been modified to support adjustments to these amounts. In most other areas of the product, the visible Cost Rate will reflect the combined amounts. Only on the People > Time Detail and Project > Time Detail reports will you have the option to view the Additional Pay Rate Amounts broken out.
Expense Report Status Report Enhancement
The Expense Status Report has been modified to display the Post Date for those EXTRACTED expense reports (having a post date populated).
Organization Search/List Enhancements
The Organization Search and List have been modified to allow for filtering by Organization Type and the field is now also included in the resulting list. Additional new controls allow for the ability to control whether active and/or inactive organizations will appear in the resulting output.
Organization Access by Owning Org
The Organization Access mechanism has been extended to additionally provide data visibility controls via Owning Organization. All roles that were previously subject to Project Organization Org Access restrictions can now also be restricted by Owning Organization. The Organization Access import has been modified to support the new access types (owning and contact). The Reference >> Project Administrators report has also been modified to reflect the new Owning Organization access. Note that visibility to projects will be restricted to those projects where a user has both Owning and Project Organization access permissions.
Modify Fixed Price Items
The edit screens for Fixed Price items have been modified to allow for additional flexibility as to which attributes may be modified later in the process. Relaxed validations now allow, for example, for Description to be modified up to the point that an invoice has been completed. See Edit Rules for a complete listing of these new editing changes.
New Alert on Funded Value
A new project alert has been added to alert when Gross Revenue has exceeded a certain percentage of a project's Funded Value. The Project Status Report has a related enhancement to display these values (see Reporting Enhancements above).
Financial Document List Total Improvements
The various list screens displaying Financial documents have each been modified to include totals in the footer of any amount columns.
Historical Time Data Load Improvements
A number of enhancements have been included to better facilitate the loading of historical time data. A new Historical Time Import has been added to allow for the importing of timesheets which will be marked as Historical. Those historical timesheets will not be modifiable nor will they participate in activities such as adjustments or any other re-rating or dilution triggered events. The existing Time Export has a new control to facilitate the inclusion of Historical Time entries when exporting time data, and a new field is available PERSON_TIME_HISTORICAL_TIMESHEET for inclusion in time export templates. Time details associated with historical time entries will appear in all normal reporting indistinguishable from other time entries, while timesheets designated as having historical time will appear with a (historical) tag appended to the timesheet's status on various reports.
Expense Import Enhancements
The Expense Import has two new Create Method options (Person/Post Date and Person/Project/Post Date). This import now also supports the deletion of LOCKED or EXTRACTED expense reports (so long as none of the line items have been included in the Expense Report Cost Post or the Billing & Revenue Post or a vendor invoice has been created from the expense report via the Create Vendor Invoice from Expense Report process).
Additional Export Fields
The Accounts Receivable and Journal Entry exports now include additional timesheet and expense report fields for Cost Plus project transactions.
New Bill and Cost Budget Manager & Viewer Roles
Four new roles have been added to provide increased flexibility when controlling which users can view and manage the Bill and Cost related Labor and Expense Budget fields on the Project Profile > Budget and Task > Budget tabs. The new Roles (Bill Budget Manager, Bill Budget Viewer, Cost Budget Manager, Cost Budget Viewer) can be managed via the Person Profile > Roles tab and Person Import. The Project level version of the Task Import and Task Export have been modified to respect these new roles as have the Task Search, List, Edit and Copy screens.. These new roles do not yet impact any reporting visibility to Budget information.
Migration Note:
During the migration to version 10.2, all Project Administrators will be assigned the Bill Budget Viewer and Cost Budget Viewer roles. For systems configured with the "Allow Bill Rate Edit" property enabled, those users will also have the Bill Budget Manager roles assigned. Similarly, for systems configured with the "Allow Cost Rate Edit" property enabled, those users will also have the Cost Budget Manager roles assigned.
Support for SAML
Support for SAML is targeted to be available in an upcoming 10.2 point release.
System Requirements
Please review the System Requirements help page to make sure your platform has the necessary underlying component versions to support this version of Unanet.
The platform minimum requirements between this version and version 10.1 have not changed.
Note recent changes:
Beginning with version (v10.0), we no longer support Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9, JRun, Tomcat 6.x, Java 1.6, SQL Server 2005 or Oracle 10.
Beginning with version (v9.6), we no longer support Oracle v9 or Java 1.5.
Beginning with version (v9.5), we no longer support Internet Explorer 6 or Tomcat 5.5.
Beginning with version (v9.4), we no longer support MS SQL Server 2000.
Should you need to update your database version you will want to do this prior to running the Unanet migration.
The process of updating your Sql Server database involves the creation of a backup of the database in the older version and then a restore of that file in the newer database version.
Java Memory Parameter Tuning -- Unanet 10.0 will require you to increase several memory related parameters in order to function properly. See Required Java Tuning for more information.
Future Platform Requirements Alert ! Note that the following components will no longer be supported beginning with our next major release 10.3: We plan to drop support for Java 1.7 and Tomcat 7.
The file layout for the Organization Contact Import has changed (all new fields are optional and added to the end of the import layout).
New Field -Delete (Field #13)
New Field -Contact_Category (Field #14)
The file layout for the Organization Import has changed (all new fields are optional and added to the end of the import layout).
New Field -Start_With_Proj_Code_Number (Field #39)
The file layout for the Expense Import has changed (all new fields are optional and added to the end of the import layout).
New Field -Exp_Voucher (Field #22)
New Field -Delete (Field #23)
The file layout for the Time Import has changed (all new fields are optional and added to the end of the import layout).
New Field -Additional_Pay_Rate (Field #21)
Note that all changes to the import layouts for this release are either optional or conditionally optional fields. That is, if you do not plan to specifically utilize any of the capabilities related to the new or changed fields, you do not necessarily need to make any changes to any existing import processes to accommodate these new fields (they will each provide for a default value).
Migration Instructions
Once you're all ready, here is a link to the migration instructions.
Migration Considerations
Note the migration from v9.6 to v10.0 includes running multiple sql scripts and potentially a cost plus data conversion should you have cost plus data in your system.
Migration Dry Run
Unanet encourages self-hosted customers to perform mock migrations in a test environment to identify and address potential issues prior to migrating your production system. The Unanet license allows for additional Unanet sites for the purpose of testing. This does not apply to On Demand Subscription customers.
IMU / Command Line Import / Export Notice
If you are running the command line import.jar, export.jar or ImportDiff utilities (which are often called from within the IMU), be sure to copy the 10.2 versions of these files. These utilities can be found in the 'utilities' directory and are also available on our Support download site.
Database Schema Changes
If your site uses any custom stored procedures or other external customized programs (e.g. for reporting or integration), you should review and test your custom logic to make sure it will function with this new version. You may want to review the database migration scripts to gain a complete understanding of any new, removed or renamed fields or tables. These scripts are located in your \unanet\database directory (under oracle or sql server).
Unanet Customer Service is always interested in keeping up with which versions of software are in use at customer sites. At the conclusion of your upgrade, please take a quick minute to send an email to support@unanet.com indicating your success (along with the version you are running). If you have the time, you could also click on the Send to Unanet button on the About page (which will forward your platform details to customer service).
Thanks!
